What is HRDF Training?

HRDF training refers to the training initiatives that are supported and funded by the HRDF of Malaysia. HR development is basically done through a number of training programs and HRDF is an organization aimed at enhancing the skills and competencies of Malaysian workforce.

The training programmes that HRDF provides is aimed at making the employees more knowledgeable and trained; this produces benefits all around as his output surges and so do the economy of the country. These programs, which aim to fulfil the specific sector requirements and support cycle-long learning, are typically made available for their employees by HRDF-registered companies.

What does HRDF stand for?

HRDF stands for Human Resources Development Fund. It is a legal body or government institution for the provision and financing of workforce development programs in many parts of the world, Malaysia being just one example. HRDF primarily focuses on corporate training & education for skill enhancement and employment opportunities.

One example is the HRDF in Malaysia, which is managed by the Ministry of Human Resources and funded by employer contributions – mainly private sector employers [5]– to obtain grants for training their workforce in pursuit of higher level certification / competency.

Is HRDF contribution compulsory in Malaysia?

Indeed, some firms in Malaysia are required to make contributions to the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF). Employers in certain industries, including as manufacturing, services, mining, and quarrying, with ten or more employees are required to make the contribution under the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) Act of 2001.

Employers are required to pay into the HRDF 1% of each employee’s monthly salary. Employers in the same industries with less than ten workers, however, are free to choose to voluntarily donate 0.5% of their workers’ salary. Businesses can use these payments to seek training grants for employees to reskill and upskill, which will help them become more competent workers.
